Florida The Latest State To Consider Sovereignty

From the Tenth Amendment Center:

State Senator Carey Baker (R-Eustis) has introduced a memorial in the Florida Senate reaffirming the principles of the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The memorial, awaiting an official Senate number, urges “Congress to honor the provisions of the Constitution of the United States and United States Supreme Court case law which limit the scope and exercise of federal power.”

“Now more than ever, state governments must exercise their Constitutional right to say no to the expansion of the federal government’s reckless deficit spending and abuse of power,” Senator Baker said. “With this resolution, our Legislature can send a message to Washington that our state’s rights must be respected.”

Those who ignore or dismiss such proceedings do so at the peril of the Union.

Tim Tebow's Eye Black Message (Philippians 4:13)

Last December, I blogged about how 2007 Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow might very well have been aborted before he was born had not his mother been so committed to her Christian values and staunchly opposed the doctors who were trying to convince her to kill her unborn baby as a means of saving her own life. Her faith won the day and she is still alive after giving birth to a boy in 1987 who would become, arguably, one of the best college football quarterbacks of all time.

Anyone who would doubt this apparently did not watch the SEC Championship Game between #1 ranked Alabama and #4 ranked Florida yesterday. It was a tough fought contest, but Florida prevailed with a final score of 31 to 20. The Gators look as though they will be headed to the National Championship Game.

I watched that game and thoroughly enjoyed it. But, thanks to the technology of Hi-Def televsion, I noticed something for the first time. While most other players wear eye black (that black, greasy stuff they put below their eyes to reduce glare) with things like their team names or their own jersey number or whatnot, Tim Tebow's eye black smears had something much more profound written in them. Together, they read: "PHIL 4:13."

I quickly realized that this was the reference to a Bible verse although I wasn't sure if it was for the book of Philemon or Philippians. I looked it up. Since Philemon is only one chapter, it has to be Phillipians.

Philippians 4:13 reads:

I can do all things through Christ which strengthenth me.

From mother to son, father to son and now out to the world, we know where Tim Tebow's strength comes from.

God bless Pam Tebow for holding her ground, relying on her faith and giving the world Tim.

Joe Biden Collapses Under Tough Question About Being A Marxist From WFTV Florida News Anchor

The Dems are so used to getting a pass from the media that one could have predicted Joe Biden's response when finally asked a tough question. WFTV Channel 9 news anchorwoman Barbara West asked just such a question to Joe Biden. In response, Biden shyed away rather than actually answer the question.

From Sky News:

During a fiery interview, Florida anchor-woman Barbara West also asked if Mr Obama's comments that he wanted to "spread the wealth around," meant he was going to turn the United States into a socialist country.

The Democratic nominee made the comments during his now famous campaign chat with an Ohio voter known as 'Joe the Plumber.'

West said:"You may recognise this famous quote: 'from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs,' that's from Karl Marx.

"How is Senator Obama not being a Marxist if he intends to spread the wealth around?"

After a short pause Senator Biden replied: Are you joking...is this a joke...or is that a real question."

The newsworthy item here is not that Joe Biden thought the whole thing was a joke. The newsworthy item is that it is a legitimate question given Barack Obama's stated socialist positions on economic issues and Joe Biden had a meltdown over it.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Barbara West had this to say:

"I have a great deal of respect for him. I have a great deal of respect for Sen. Obama. We are given four minutes of a satellite window for these interviews. Four precious minutes. I got right down to it and, yes, I think I asked him some pointed questions. These are questions that are rolling about right now and questions that need to be asked. I don't think I was rude or inconsiderate to him. I think I was probing and maybe tough. I can't believe that in all of his years in politics, and all of his campaigning and such, that he hasn't run into some tough questions before. He's certainly up to it in giving good answers."

But Joe and the Dems aren't used to getting tough questions from journalists. They are used to softball questions from supporters like Chris Matthews and Charles Gibson. One tough question and they instantly go into whine overdrive and complain that no one likes them.

In response to the interview, the Obama campaign said they would no longer cooperate with WFTV but would rather talk with media outlets that ask easy questions.

Democrats Getting More Violent, Shoot Up House In Florida

It happened back in 2004 and it is happening again, but you will never hear about it from the MSM unless the party affiliations were reversed.

A homeowner in Florida was targeted because he is a McCain supporter. From the local News Channel 6 in Seminole County:

The home of a Central Florida Republican headquarters manager was shot up and damaged over his support of Sen. John McCain, the man told police.

Rog Coverely said several pellets pierced his Longwood home. Coverely showed several spiderwebbed-holes in the front windows of his home.

...

"All I can tell you is this, I have a very good relationship with my neighbors," Coverely said. "I mow my lawn. The only thing that has changed is I have two McCain signs in my front yard."

Coverely said he has taken about 300 calls concerning stolen or vandalized McCain signs in the area.

"It says this campaign is getting vicious," Coverely said.

Coverely said it appears Democrats are becoming more aggressive in the county.

"I wouldn't say slipping but I would say the Democrats have become far more aggressive in Seminole County because it is such a heavy Republican area," Coverely said.

I thought the Democrats proclaimed themselves the partry of "peace" and "non-violence."

ACORN Voter Fraud Is Widespread

The group that is stumping for Barack Obama and whom Barack Obama taught for, worked for and represented, has a long line of voter fraud behind it. It's no wonder the Obama campaign has resorted to lying about Obama's relationship with this law-breaking group.

Companies Begin Quest For Oil Offshore: Oil And Gas Prices Emerging As #1 Issue

So, how much have you been paying to fill your gas tank? Quite a bit more than you were when the Democrats took control of Congress back in 2007. Gas prices have gone up over 38% since then. The American people want change. Not the change Barack Obama is proposing (i.e. more disastrous Socialism), but a change in domestic energy production policy.

That change would be to lift the stifling rules and regulations that prevent us from producing our own energy right here at home. Conceivably, our domestic oil companies could produce oil at $60/bbl instead of having to pay $145/bbl or even $200/bbl when the price gets that high.

According to the Associated Press:

Oil companies once viewed drilling in the deep waters off Florida as cost prohibitive. Politicians feared even the slightest sign of support would be career suicide.

No more. Record crude oil prices are fueling support for oil and natural gas exploration off the nation's shores. In Florida, movement was under way even before President Bush called on Congress last month to lift a federal moratorium that's barred new offshore drilling since 1981.

The early activity here stems from a 2006 Congressional compromise that allows drilling on 8.3 million acres more than 125 miles off the Panhandle — an area that had been covered by the moratorium, which was enacted out of environmental concerns. In exchange, the state got a no-drilling buffer along the rest of its beaches.

2006. That's when the Republicans controlled Congress. They had more than enough votes to force the issue, but certain Republicans decided to become obstructionists, including the GOP Presidential candidate John McCain.

McCain better be singing a different tune today, because Barack Obama is the one constantly saying "no" to viable solutions to our energy crisis. Here's what the American voter is thinking:

With gas topping $4 a gallon, recent polls show Americans, Floridians included, more supportive of drilling in protected areas. Some politicians — including Gov. Charlie Crist — have switched sides.

"We think the public is way out ahead of the politicians on these issues. People are more open to (offshore drilling) now," said Tom Moskitis, spokesman for the American Gas Association, a trade group.

At the same time, oil companies, driven by the record energy price, are more willing to risk $100 million or more to begin exploring new regions. The Interior Department estimates there could be 18 billion barrels of oil and 77 trillion cubic feet of natural gas beneath the 574 million acres of federal coastal waters that are now off-limits.

And when people realize that the energy crisis is going to threaten the family vacation to Disney World, they will end up voting for the candidate who will work the hardest to remove the threat. That is why John McCain had better be listening to the people on this one.

More:

But politicians who once supported the ban are changing their minds.

Sen. John McCain supports lifting the ban and allowing states to decide whether to approve drilling of their shores. Crist, Florida's Republican governor and a possible vice presidential candidate, reversed his long-standing opposition to lifting the ban last month.

The ban won't be lifted without a fight.

Sen. Bill Nelson, who has led opposition to offshore drilling among the state's congressional delegation, criticized the governor for reversing his position, accusing Crist and McCain of putting oil company profits before protecting the state's $65 billion annual tourism industry.

But Nelson seems to be completely ignorant of the fact that if people can't put gas in their cars, or airlines can't put fuel into airplanes, then the tourist industry in Florida is going to take a huge hit. People aren't going to walk hundreds of miles to get to Florida, especially if they have children.

Islamic Calls Children "Dogs," Brutal Teen Pack Attack And Rockefeller Lies About John McCain

Okay, so maybe it's because today is "hump day" and because I had to come into work on Sunday, it feels later in the week for me. But there are three stories that I feel absolutely must be blogged and made available for everyone to see.

First, this story comes out of Holland. Now, anyone who knows the history of Holland knows that when political and religious strife hit the rest of Europe during the Middle Ages, Holland was a sort of sanctuary for those with differing views. In fact, some of history's greatest scientific minds did their work in Holland free from the persecution they would have suffered had they carried on their research elsewhere. That is why this story is so disturbing and why we need to make sure that it gets disseminated far and wide.

A group of school children in Holland were on a field trip to a mosque. Ostensibly, this field trip was aimed at helping the children increase their understanding of other cultures, which is a long time tradition in Holland. But, these children were told by their Islamic guide that they were "dogs."

From NISNews.nl:

A primary school in Amsterdam wished to provide its pupils with an understanding for other cultures. But during a visit to a mosque, the children were told they were dogs.

With a view to developing understanding and respect for other cultures among children, primary school De Horizon regularly organises outings to various religious organisations. The chairman of the El Mouchidine mosque told the children from group 7 (aged 10) and their chaperones however that non-Muslims are dogs.

In a letter to the children's parents, the school expresses its regret at the incident: "We are shocked that during the guided tour, the mosque's chairman told the children and chaperoning parents that non believers were dogs. We consider this statement as unacceptable since we allow our children to partake in this project to develop respect for freedom of religious choice".

In the meantime, the school's management has addressed the mosque on the undesirable behaviour of the chairman. Both parties will say nothing further on the matter. "We will resolve the matter amongst ourselves and I have no inclination whatsoever to discuss the matter with the media", as newspaper De Telegraaf quoted the school's spokesperson Mariet ten Berge. "We have been to the mosque before and it always went well".

Angry parents had sent the letter on to De Telegraaf but were reportedly rapped on the knuckles by the school's management. "The school wishes to play this down. That is precisely the problem", as one mother commented.

Religion of peace? Religion of tolerance? What do you think?

As for the school trying to play this down, who will that help other than the Islamics?

Last night, I was watching Nancy Grace on Headline News and saw for the first time the video showing Victoria Lindsay being beaten by six other girls while two teenaged boys stood lookout.

Now, I know that there is some history of Lindsay having anger management issues, but in the video, she was completely defensive and never once raised her hands nor kicked her feet in an offensive way. I don't care what sort of trash-talking may have gone on in MySpace or any other website. There is absolutely no excuse at all for the gang attack that these six young women and two young men conspired to commit against Lindsay.

According to WFTV Channel 9 in Polk County, Florida:

When 16-year-old Victoria Lindsay arrived at her friend's house where she had been staying, six girls were waiting. Immediately, they started yelling and one girl began pummeling the victim.

On the video, the girls can be heard encouraging the fight in the background, even taunting Lindsay to fight back, all while one of them held the camera. The victim's family has said it was an elaborate plot to injure and embarrass Victoria Lindsay. Lindsay's parents couldn't believe their daughter had to endure the attack.

"That's my Tori. Don't do that to my Tori," said the victim's mother.

The 16-year-old suffered a concussion, eye injuries and several bruises. During the attack, two others were outside keeping watch according to the sheriff's office.

In fact, the sheriff said, Lindsay was lured into the home for the sole purpose of capturing and posting the video on the Internet. According to the sheriff's office arrest affidavit, Lindsay told deputies they "were going to post the beating on MySpace and YouTube."

...

The suspects were identified as 17-year-old Mercades Nichols, 17-year-old Brittini Hardcastle, 14-year-old April Cooper, 16-year-old Cara Murphy, 17-year-old Britney Mayes and 15-year-old Kayla Hassell. Zachary Ashley, 17, and Stephen Schumaker, 18, were identified by deputies as the lookouts.

Now, I have a 16-year-old son and I will be the first to admit that he is no angel and has had probably more than his share of self-inflicted trouble to deal with, mostly due to poor decision making. But, I know that I was a good enough father that if he ever saw something like this, he would at the very least refuse to join in and at best immediately go for help and report what was happening. None of the eight involved in the beating did that. Some people are blaming YouTube and MySpace for this incident. I have more logical culprits to lay blame on.

Their parents. How bad a job did a parent have to do in order to allow a child to think that on some level, a gang-beating like this was morally acceptable? How bad a job did a parent have to do to allow a child to think that it was perfectly okay to videotape such a horrendously evil act for the purposes of gaining fame and notoriety? A pretty piss-poor job if you ask me.

I honestly hope that Victoria Lindsay's parents sue the pants off of the parents of those eight and also hope that all eight of the perps do time as adults.

As I wrote above, whatever circumstances precipitated the beating are irrelevent. What happened on that video had absolutely no excuse at all.

And finally, we have Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) talking trash about Senator John McCain. And I really do mean trash. Rockefeller clearly doesn't have enough intelligence to research his own issues before going out and making erroneous statements on those issues.

From the American Thinker

The Charleston Gazette reports:

Rockefeller believes McCain has become insensitive to many human issues. "McCain was a fighter pilot, who dropped laser-guided missiles from 35,000 feet. He was long gone when they hit.

"What happened when they [the missiles] get to the ground? He doesn't know. You have to care about the lives of people. McCain never gets into those issues."

...

It’s even worse than a ridiculous term applied to a warrior. Rockefeller is tiptoeing into far left nuttiness, the path that leads to the argument that modern weaponry is immoral, and that McCain could be described as a war criminal for dropping bombs that might harm non-combatants.

Take note that Rockefeller mentions McCain dropping laser-guided bombs. These were not used in Vietnam. Laser-guided missiles and bombs minimize civilian casualties.

And this:

Perhaps Rockefeller forgot McCain was a POW and was tortured. It would be kind of hard to keep your sensitivity in full flower under the hideous torture to which he was subjected.

Also note that Rockefeller refers to Senator McCain as a "fighter pilot." John McCain drove A-4 Skyhawks during Vietnam. The A-4 is a ground attack aircraft, not a fighter.

Heisman Trophy Winner Tim Tebow Could Have Been Aborted

So, if you look at all the reasons that the pro-abortion folks give for having abortions, (e.g. economic status, drug/alcohol abuse in the family, family size, etc.) you have to wonder if babies born into those circumstances will just turn out to be failures who leech off of the rest of society. Well, my family fell under the aforementioned circumstances and the pro-abortion crowd would have said that it would have been best if I had been aborted. I don't think so.

I went on to serve in the Marine Corps, earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maryland and am married and provide a very comfortable living for my wife and family. But the pro-abortion people would still scream that babies like me should have been aborted anyway.

Well, I am not alone. There are thousands, if not millions, of babies like me who the pro-abortionists claim should have been done away with. One of the more well-known is Tim Tebow, the sophomore Florida Gator football player who won the Heisman Trophy. From LifeNews:

University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow became the first sophomore in the history of the NCAA to win the coveted Heisman Trophy as the best football player in the nation. However, Tebow's accomplishments may never have been supported had his mother followed a doctor's recommendation to have an abortion.

With 29 passing touchdowns and 22 rushing touchdowns, Tebow displayed the kind of versatility that has become more valued at the quarterback position.

Pam Tebow and her husband were Christian missionaries in the Philippines in 1985 and they prayed for "Timmy" before she became pregnant.

Unfortunately, as the Gainesville Sun reports, Pam entered into a coma after she contracted amoebic dysentery, an infection of the intestine caused by a parasite found in a contaminated food or drink.

The treatment for the medical condition would require strong medications that doctors told Pam had caused irreversible damage to Tim -- so they advised her to have an abortion.

As the Sun reported, Pam Tebow refused the abortion and cited her Christian faith as the reason for her hope that her son would be born without the devastating disabilities physicians predicted.

Pam ultimately spent the last two months of her pregnancy in bed and, eventually, gave birth to a health baby boy in August 1987.

As she told the newspaper, Pam was not surprised that her son would be up for the Heisman despite no underclassman receiving the award since its inception in 1933.

"The combination of Timmy's God-given talent, hard work, character and leadership have made a mark on and off the football field," she said.

As prominent researcher Joel Brind writes in a new LifeNews.com editorial, doctors are frequently telling women they should consider abortions when confronted with various medical situations affecting their health.

Yet, as he notes, physicians can successfully treat both mother and child without suggesting that the baby be killed to spare a mother's life.

Because Tim Tebow was spared, he's wowed a nation by his athletic skill and, at his younger age, has an opportunity to become the second person to win two Heisman awards.
