Left-Leaning Washington Post Goes After Bob McDonnell

In an article for Human Events, Christian Toto remembers something that I also remember from last year's election.

I remember a junior Senator from Illinois who admitted to smoking pot and snorting cocaine, broke bread with admitted domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, sat in a church pew for 20 years listening to the racial, bigoted, anti-semetic and anti-American hatred of Rev. Wright and admitted that his goal was to redistribute wealth, or as he put it, "spread the wealth." What I don't remember is the Washington Post or any other leftist news outlet ever bothering to cover these stories.

Ostensibly, the reason for the non-coverage is because the junior Senator is a Democrat and the the Post simply did not want to do anything that would hurt his chances to become president.

But, when the candidate is a Republican running for Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, then the Washington Post adopts a different, completely hypocritical set of standards.

From Toto's article:

Now, the newspaper has unearthed a decades old college thesis from gubernatorial GOP hopeful Robert F. McDonnell. And – given the multiple stories it’s already run – the paper thinks McDonnell’s thesis – written 25 years ago -- could affect the balance of the race. McDonnell currently leads Democratic candidate Creigh Deeds by at least seven points in a recent poll. Can the Post serve as a political kingmaker again for the Old Dominion State? Or will a feisty alternative media rise up to stop any attempts to turn a college assignment into a campaign killer? And if so, why didn’t the paper pull out all the stops regarding another candidate’s past?

Because just as it did last year, the Post has abandonded all pretenses of journalistic objectivity in the Virginia Governor's race. The paper might as well rename itself the Left-Leaning Washington Post.

Department Of Homeland Security Paints Targets On Veterans' Backs

In what is obviously a pro-Democrat partisan move, the Department of Homeland Security released a report stating that U.S. Military Veterans are likely to become extremists working for right-wing groups. No mention was made of people like Bill Ayers being extremists for left-wing groups though.

This whole thing is a huge slap in the face to our Veterans. There was absolutely no evidence, data or other factual information in the report to back up any claims. Clearly, this report was authored by some Democrat political appointee to DHS who has a goal of seeing our Veternas relegated to the status of third-class citizen.

From Fox News:

"The current economic and political climate has some similarities to the 1990s when right-wing extremism experienced a resurgence fueled largely by an economic recession, criticism about the outsourcing of jobs and the perceived threat to U.S. power and sovereignty by other foreign powers.," it continues. The report also suggests that returning veterans are attractive recruits for right-wing groups looking for "combat skills and experience" so as to boost their "violent capabilities." It adds that new restrictions on gun ownership and the difficulty of veterans to reintegrate into their communities "could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks." ... DHS spokeswoman Sara Kuban said the April 7 assessment is one in an ongoing series published by DHS "to facilitate a greater understanding of radicalization in the United States." "DHS has no specific information that domestic right-wing terrorists are currently planning acts of violence, but right-wing extremists may be gaining new recruitments by playing on their fears about several emerging issues," Kuban said. But some critics have said the DHS is equating conservative views to right-wing terrorism, but a DHS official countered that earlier this year, the department issued a mirror intelligence assessment of left-wing extremist groups. FOX News has obtained a copy of the assessment, dated Jan. 26 and titled "Left-wing Extremists Likely to Increase Use of Cyberattacks Over the Coming Decade." It concentrates largely on the technical savvy of left-wing extremists and not bloodshed.

So, some politically appointed Democrat at DHS wants to discredit the honor of our Military Veterans by painting them as some sort of violent crowd while at the same time saying the left-wing extremists are nothing more than computer geeks?

Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, anyone? And what about those Islamic terrorists training camps around the United States? Are they not worth mentioning either?

I am a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and proud of it. If anyone, especially leftist-socialist Democrats, wants to take issue with that, they may do so personally by leaving comments on this blog. But to hide behind a blatantly biased report and then claim that leftists would do nothing more than hack a website is, in a word, chutzpuh.

What Obama "Didn't Know" And Now His Appointees "Didn't Know" Either

Have you ever noticed how many things Barack Obama “didn’t know” about the people he associates with? There appears to be a very disturbing pattern emerging here.

Obama “didn’t know” that Jeremiah Wright preached racial hatred from the pulpit.

Obama “didn’t know” that Tony Rezko was a crooked real estate developer.

Obama “didn’t know” that Bill Ayers was a domestic terrorist.

And now, Obama “didn’t know” that Rahm Emanuel had more contact with Rod Blagojevich than was previously reported. Further, Obama's pick for Attorney General also "didn't know" about his own connection with Blagojevich.

These two stories both come from the Chicago Sun-Times. First, about Rahm Emanuel's contact with Blagojevich despite Obama's early claims that no such contact took place:

President-elect Barack Obama's incoming chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, was pushing for Obama's successor just days after the Nov. 4 election, sources told the Chicago Sun-Times. Emanuel privately urged Gov. Blagojevich's administration to appoint Obama confidante Valerie Jarrett, and the Sun-Times learned Tuesday that he also pressed that it be done by a certain deadline. Jarrett was initially interested in the U.S. Senate post before Obama tapped her to be a White House senior adviser, sources say. The disclosure comes days after Obama's camp downplayed Jarrett's interest in the post.

It seems as though the Obama camp's story changes every time the wind in the Inner Loop changes direction. But we can't be sure of what the truth is because Obama himself has obfuscated it so much, just like a typical politician. (So much for "change" or any kind of transparant investigation.)

And what about Attorney General designate Eric Holder and his relationship with Blagojevich? Turns out there was a big one, a relationship worth $300,000 to Holder.

Before Eric Holder was President-elect Barack Obama's choice to be attorney general, he was Gov. Blagojevich's pick to sort out a mess involving Illinois' long-dormant casino license. Blagojevich and Holder appeared together at a March 24, 2004, news conference to announce Holder's role as "special investigator to the Illinois Gaming Board" -- a post that was to pay Holder and his Washington, D.C. law firm up to $300,000. Holder, however, omitted that event from his 47-page response to a Senate Judiciary Committee questionnaire made public this week -- an oversight he plans to correct after a Chicago Sun-Times inquiry, Obama's transition team indicated late Tuesday.

Maybe Holder "didn't know" that the relationship, especially the dollar amounts involved should have been reported? Or maybe, because of the Chicago-style politics being played, Holder arrogantly assumed that he was above the law and therefore had no need of disclosing anything?

These two stories may have nothing to do with Blagojevich trying to sell the vacated Illinois Senate seat, but it is very important that this infomation comes to light. Especially since the United States has approved of Obama's team transplanting its corrupt Chicago-style politics to Washington D.C.

Besides, remember the non-outing of Valerie Plame and how that led to a completely unrelated charge against Scooter Libby? Americans, especially Democrats, were okay with that. If they are fair and apply the same standard here, these same Americans, and especially the Democrats, will be okay with us learning everything we can about the corruption that will soon make its way from Illinois to D.C.

It might very well happen that the Obama Administration is going to be the most corrupt in history.

Three Lies Told By Barack Obama During The Campaign

First: Barack Obama claims that his relationship with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers went no further than Ayers being "a guy who lives in my neighborhood." Well, Bill Ayers himself does not agree with Barack Obama on this.

Rex W. Huppke of the Chicago Tribune has this to say:

In a new afterword to his memoir, 1960s radical William Ayers describes himself as a "family friend" of President-elect Barack Obama ...

A "new afterward." Not an old one, but a new one. Sounds like Ayers was at least a little more than some guy who lived in the Obama's neighborhood.

Second: Barack Obama claimed that he never knew that the pastor at his church was a racist hate-monger. But back in 2004, he told a different story. According the Cybercast News Service:

[An interview was conducted] on March 27, 2004 by Chicago Sun-Times religion writer Cathleen Falsani for a story on Obama’s faith, but the interview was not released in its entirety until now. “One of the churches that I became involved in was Trinity United Church of Christ,” Obama said in the interview. “And the pastor there, Jeremiah Wright, became a good friend. So I joined that church and committed myself to Christ in that church.” Obama began attending the church in 1988 and formally joined Trinity in 1992. Falsani asked, “Do you still attend Trinity?” Obama answered, “Yep. Every week. 11 o’clock service. Ever been there? Good service.

Anyone care to guess why that interview was put under wraps? Probably because it would have exposed Barack Obama as a race-baiting liar.

Third: The Obama campaign claimed that they would move away from lobbyists as he brought "change" to Washington D.C. Well, that promised change was a lie.

One of the people brought on-board by Obama is Mark Gitenstein, a lobbyists who engineered a twelve million dollar contract with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and promoted Boeing and General Dynamics. More recently, he lobbied for AT&T, Merrill Lynch, KPMG and Ernst & Young. (Bailout anyone?)

Look at the other lobbyists Obama is bringing into his fold. According to Ed Morrissey at Hot Air:

Ron Klain - Joe Biden’s chief of staff, had lobbied for Fannie Mae on “regulatory matters” until 2004, when the fraud got uncovered after years of Congressional interference with regulators. Klain also lobbied for companies defending asbestos lawsuits and for ImClone, the drugmaker that faced charges of fraud. John Podesta - The man running Obama’s transition spent the last few years lobbying for the far-Left group Center for American Progress. Patrick Gaspard - Lobbied on health care issues on behalf of the SEIU, now associate personnel director for the transition team Podesta has an even more interesting tie to lobbying. Bill Clinton enacted a five-year ban on former White House staffers lobbying present and future administrations in order to curtail influence peddling. However, after George Bush won in 2000, Clinton rescinded the order to help his staffers get jobs in the wake of the Republican sweep to victory. The man who helped write the revocation? John Podesta.

Once, Barack Obama spoke against lobbyists. Now, he has surrounded himself with them. And no, I don't believe he is emulating Jesus who surrounded himslef with sinners in an effort to redeem them. This Obama administration is all about power, not redemption.

John David Powell: Don't Underestimate Race And Trust In Choosing A President

I just got a hold of this article. It is a gem that contains nuggets of wisdom that will go a long way to helping people see clearly what is happening in the politcal arena right now and what will happen in the years to come.

John David Powell takes a look at a couple of the issues we have been facing in this election and how the Obama campaign responded to them compared to how other campaigns responded in the past.

Let's start with playing the race card:

[T]oday, less than two weeks from Election Day, it’s easy to understand why some non-black voters don’t want others to know they do not support Obama. Who can blame them when any criticism or questioning of the candidate of change results in immediate old-school accusations of racism?

I've even had some comments left on certain posts of this blog accusing me of racism despite the fact that the issue of race was never brought up in those postings. Just the fact that I am opposed to a socialist candidate was enough justification for commenters to bring out the race card and a braod-brushed, unsubstantiated charge. As Dustin Hoffman said in Hook: "Bad form."

And we always seem to come back to domestic terrorist William Ayers:

And that brings us to the second factor, the issue of trust. Obama never really condemns the past and current political views of fellow Chicagoan Bill Ayers, pointing out, instead, that Ayers’ terrorist activities occurred when Obama was 8 years old, and, therefore, have no connection to Obama today. If that’s true, then Obama’s position negates the argument of some black people who push for reparations because their ancestors were slaves. That’s because slavery occurred before those living today were born, and, therefore, has no connection to anyone today.

That is a dead-on-target shot that the Obama campaign cannot dodge. If Barack Obama cannot be held accountable for being a friend and business partner to a man who committed terrorist acts when Obama was 8 years old, then neither can white people in general be held accountable for something that occurred long before any of them were even born. To hold such a double standard seems to be standard for the Democrats though. They hold a low standard for themselves and high standard for everyone else.

But what is Obama hiding by not being completely forthcoming with his past? And what is he afraid will happen if his past is brought up and scrutinized by the MSM? He certainly can't be afraid of losing the election. Powell looks at this too:

But Citizen Obama does not fully trust the American people to know his full and true relationship with Ayers, because he does not trust the American people to look at his life and accept him as our president. The American people knew George W. Bush grew up around such neo-con luminaries as Don Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney, but we elected him twice to the presidency. The American people knew Bush was an average college student, and at one time was what some would call a drunkard who even lost his driver’s license for drunk driving, but we elected him twice to the presidency. The American people knew Bush was an unsuccessful businessman and person not glib or quick on his feet, but we elected him twice to the presidency. The American people only know about Obama what Obama wants us to know. And mistrust in the judgment of the American people may tip enough votes to McCain, a candidate the American people know well.

Yes, we knew more about George Bush in 2000 than we know about Barack Obama in 2008. We also know more about John McCain than we know about Barack Obama because John McCain is not afraid of people looking into his past.

That's trust.

Barack "The Silencer" Obama's Gangland Assault On Free Speech

Usually, politicians who seek the Presidency don't get their nicknames until they reach the Oval Office and do something to earn themselves that nickname. Barack Obama has jumped the gun on this and gotten himself a nickname even before the convention nominating him was over. He is now known as "The Silencer."

In my blog posting from yesterday, I noted how the Obama camp is engaging in strong-arm tactics and even legal threats to stifle free speech. They are specifically targeting a TV ad which legitimately questions Obama's relationship with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers. Further, the TV ad uses no untruthful information yet the Obama camp refers to its content as "lies" without offering a single shred of evidence to support their claim.

Thus, Obama has become "The Silencer." Michelle Malkin over at TownHall has some more on this:

Where are all the free speech absolutists when you need them? Over the past month, left-wing partisans and Democratic lawyers have waged a brass-knuckled intimidation campaign against GOP donors, TV and radio stations, and even an investigative journalist because they have all dared to question the radical cult of Barack Obama. A chill wind blows, but where the valiant protectors of political dissent are, nobody knows. On August 11, I called the American Civil Liberties Union national headquarters in New York for comment about the Chicago gangland tactics of one of these groups -- a nonprofit called "Accountable America" that is spearheaded by a former operative of the Obama-endorsing MoveOn outfit. ... The ACLU press office failed to respond to my initial call. On August 13, I followed up through e-mail: "I called on Monday requesting a statement from the ACLU about Accountable America's intimidation campaign against GOP donors. What is the ACLU's position with regard to such efforts? Waiting for your statement..." ACLU press officer Pamela Bradshaw e-mailed back: "Michelle, My apologies that I cannot be of more assistance, but we don't have anyone available. Thanks, Pam." My reply: "Pam -- Does this mean you don't have anyone available today, this week, or for the foreseeable future?" On August 20, after a week of silence, I forwarded the message again to the ACLU press office. No response.

In a stunning act of hypocrisy, the ACLU refuses to denounce the strong-arm tactics of The Silencer and his minions. That comes as very little surprise given that the ACLU has done everything in its power in recent years to curb traditional freedoms and uphold freedoms that have only recently been invented.

But this is the part that should really make you stop and think. Barack Obama, for all of his eloquence and class, is engaging in a campaign of censorship that sinks to the level of street-thugs.

Michelle highlights the real Barack Obama:

Behind the glowing, peaceful facade lies Barack "The Silencer" Obama and his silent enablers on the left. While mainstream journalists schmoozed with liberal celebrities in Denver, practiced yoga with left-wing bloggers and received massages at the Google convention tent near touchy-feely Barackopolis, Team Obama was on an ugly, aggressive warpath sanctioned by Mr. Civility. While compassionate Obama prepared to stand before thousands of worshipers at Invesco Field, purporting to give voice to the voiceless, his Chicago-schooled campaign machine was working overtime to muzzle conservative critics. "We want it to stop," ordered one pro-Obama caller to WGN.

Obama Camp Seeks To Censor Dissent With Threats

What is it that leftists hate more than anything else? When opponents air the truth about leftist policies and leftist politicians. The Obama camp made that unambiguously clear when a TV ad questioning the relationship between Barack Obama and domestic terrorist Bill Ayers went public.

Not only did the Obama camp completely fail to bring any evidence of untruthfulness or wrongdoing of any kind to the argument, they even went so far as to ask the Justice Department to take up the cause in an effort to censor First Amendment rights.

From the Associated Press:

Obama not only aired a response ad to the spot linking him to William Ayers, but he sought to block stations the commercial by warning station managers and asking the Justice Department to intervene. The campaign also planned to compel advertisers to pressure stations that continue to air the anti-Obama commercial.

Yes, you read that write. Obama warned, not asked, but warned televisions stations that there would be retaliations, possibly through the Justice Department.

More:

"It seems they protest a bit too much," American Issues Project spokesman Christian Pinkston said. "They're going all of these routes -- through threats, intimation -- to try to thwart the First Amendment here because they don't have an argument on merit." Ayers is now a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He and Obama live in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood and served together on the board of the Woods Fund, a Chicago-based charity that develops community groups to help the poor. Obama left the board in December 2002. Obama also was the first chairman of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a school reform group of which Ayers was a founder. Ayers also held a meet-the-candidate event at his home for Obama when Obama first ran for office in the mid-1990s.

The big thing to remember here is the Obama camp has made no attempt to offer any evidence that anything in the TV ad spot was untruthful or misleading. Here is what the TV ad says:

"Barack Obama is friends with Ayers, defending him as, quote, 'Respectable' and 'Mainstream,'" the group's ad states. "Obama's political career was launched in Ayers' home. And the two served together on a left-wing board. Why would Barack Obama be friends with someone who bombed the Capitol and is proud of it? Do you know enough to elect Barack Obama?"

And yet the libs will not even attempt to tell us which part of that is untrue.

Conservative Scholar Takes On U. Of Illinois In Fight Over Papers Linked To Obama

This reminds me of the last Presidential Election when one John F. Kerry refused to sign a document that would have made all of his military service records publically available for review. That refusal allowed an image of secrecy to grow and flourish among his political enemies and eventually over into the swing voter. Kerry lost that race.

Now we have B. Hussein Obama who is refusing to allow certain documents under the custodianship of the University of Illinois to be made public for review. Why? What is in those papers that is so damaging?

Maybe those papers would show the true relationship between B. Hussein Obama and domestic bomb-setting terrorist Bill Ayers? Maybe those papers would reveal even more close ties between Obama and other radical leftist organizations? We won't know until those papers are released in their entirety and completely unaltered and unedited.

Chronicle, has this to say:

Stanley Kurtz suspects that the Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is playing down his ties to the radical left. The conservative scholar just can’t prove it. That’s because the University of Illinois at Chicago, which houses the papers of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge — a defunct education foundation with ties to both Mr. Obama and the former Weather Underground leader Bill Ayers — won’t let him see the papers. ... “Not only would these files illuminate the working relationship between Obama and Bill Ayers, they would also provide significant insight into a web of ties linking Obama to various radical organizations,” he writes.

Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn were terrorists for the notorious Weather Underground during the turbulent 1960s, turning fugitive when a bomb — designed to kill army officers in New Jersey — accidentally exploded in a New York townhouse. Prior to that, Ayers and his cohorts succeeded in bombing the Pentagon. Ayers and Dohrn remain unrepentant for their terrorist past. Ayers was pictured in a 2001 article for Chicago magazine, stomping on an American flag, and told the New York Times just before 9/11 that the notion of the United States as a just and fair and decent place “makes me want to puke.” Although Obama actually launched his political career at an event at Ayers’s and Dohrn’s home, Obama has dismissed Ayers as just “a guy who lives in my neighborhood,” and “not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis.” For his part, Ayers refuses to discuss his relationship with Obama. ... Unfortunately, I don’t yet have access to the documents. The Special Collections section of the Richard J. Daley Library agreed to let me read them, but just before I boarded my flight to Chicago, the top library officials mysteriously intervened to bar access. Circumstances strongly suggest the likelihood that Bill Ayers himself may have played a pivotal role in this denial. Ayers has long taught at UIC, where the Chicago Annenberg Challenge offices were housed, rent-free. Ayers likely arranged for the files of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge to be housed in the UIC library, and may well have been consulted during my unsuccessful struggle to gain access to the documents. Let me, then, explain in greater detail what the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC) records are, and how I have been blocked from seeing them.

If B. Hussein Obama is such a forthright and honest candidate who has been telling the truth about his relationship with the terrorist Ayers, then he should have no problem releasing all of those documents unaltered and unedited.

Otherwise, he is just a typical Dem hypocrite.
