Chrysler Deal Highlights The Democrats' Culture Of Corrpution

You may get tired of hearing this, but it needs to be repeated over and over and over. Back in 2006, the Democrats campaigned on a Republican culture of corruption. Their claim was that they would bring back transparancy and fairness to Washington D.C.

Well, the Dems lied to us. They are more immersed in a culture of corrpution than the Republicans ever were, even more than they claimed the Republicans were. Now, we can see that this culture of corruption extends all the way to Barack Obama and the White House.

The Chrysler bankruptcy deal was supposed to sail through with no problems and Fiat would be the new majority owner at the end. But, the Obama administration didn't count on a group of Indiana pension funds looking critically at the deal and finding out what was really going on.

This whole deal with Chrysler was about paying off union supporters at the expense of Joe and Jane Average American.

From the Dow Jones Newswires:

Fiat would initially own 20% of the new company, though it would have the option of increasing its stake to as much as 51%. A United Auto Workers health-care trust would initially get a 55% stake, while the U.S. and Canada, which are lending Chrysler $4.9 billion during the bankruptcy, would own 8% and 2%, respectively.

Senior lenders owed $6.9 billion would receive $2 billion, giving them a recovery of about 29 cents on the dollar. The Indiana funds own about $42 million of the senior debt.

The UAW's health-care trust has an unsecured claim against Chrysler for about $10.5 billion. In addition to the equity stake in Chrysler that the trust, an unsecured creditor, would receive, it would also get a $4.5 billion note under the plan.

In other words, the UAW, a junior creditor, would be given preference over the Indiana pension funds, part of the senior lenders group. This is why the Supreme Court has temporarily blocked the sale, to look at the legality of this situation.

Giving junior lenders preference over senior lenders is wrong. This is clearly an attempt by the Obama administration to pay off their leftist union supporters through the sale of Chrysler and screw over hard-wroking Americans in the process.

(BTW, didn't Obama promise to get the automakers back on their feet? Why is he now so hot about selling them off?)

The concept of fairness and the due process clause in the Constitution dictate that senior lenders must be tended to first and junior lenders after that. Obama is trying to turn that around. In other words, he is changing the rules in mid-stream so that his supporters get the greater benefit at the expense of everyone else.

The Democrats' culture of corruption now adds to Nancy Pelosi, Tim Geithner, Charlie Rangel, William Jefferson and Todd Blagovich the name of Barack Obama.

Fact Checking Obama's Claims About The Pork Spending (Stimulus) Bill

Okay, all is not well with the Obamanation. Here are some facts that have been checked by the Associated Press and have been found wanting:

OBAMA: "My bottom line is, are we creating 4 million jobs?" he told the news conference.

He said in Indiana, "The plan that we've put forward will save or create 3 million to 4 million jobs over the next two years."

THE FACTS: Job creation projections are uncertain even in stable times, and some of the economists relied on by Obama in making his forecast acknowledge a great deal of uncertainty in their numbers.

The president's own economists, in a report prepared last month, stated, "It should be understood that that all of the estimates presented in this memo are subject to significant margins of error."

Beyond that, it's unlikely the nation will ever know how many jobs are saved as a result of the stimulus. While it's clear when jobs are abolished, there's no economic gauge that tracks job preservation.

In the long run, this bill will cause a loss of jobs. The money to pay for this massive spending must come from somewhere. Ultimately, it will come out of our economy and hurt our ability to create jobs.

OBAMA: "They'll be jobs building the wind turbines and solar panels and fuel-efficient cars that will lower our dependence on foreign oil and modernizing our costly health care system that will save us billions of dollars and countless lives."

THE FACTS: The economic stimulus bill would allocate about $20 billion to help hospitals and doctors transition from paper charts to electronic health records for their patients. Research has shown that in some instances, electronic record keeping can eliminate inappropriate services and improve care, but it's not a sure thing by any means. "By itself, the adoption of more health IT is generally not sufficient to produce significant cost savings," the Congressional Budget Office reported last year.

Only proven technology leads to new job creation. Unproven technologies rely on government subsidies to continue, like wind farms that need government dollars to remain on-line. Again, this will lead to fewer jobs in the long run.

OBAMA: "I've appointed hundreds of people, all of whom are outstanding Americans who are doing a great job. There are a couple who had problems before they came into my administration, in terms of their taxes. ... I made a mistake. ... I don't want to send the signal that there are two sets of rules."

...

Obama previously acknowledged he "screwed up" in making it seem to Americans that there is one set of tax compliance rules for VIPs and another set for everyone else. Yet his choice for treasury secretary, Timothy Geithner, achieved the post despite having belatedly paid $34,000 to the IRS, an agency Geithner now oversees.

That could leave the perception that there is one set of rules for Geithner and another set for everyone else.

And let's not forget how Obama went on a tirade about lobbyists in John McCain's campaign and yet Obama himself appoints lobbyists to his own staff.

Anyone else think that there aren't two set of rules here?

OBAMA: "We also inherited the most profound economic emergency since the Great Depression."

THE FACTS: This could turn out to be the case. But as bad as the economic numbers are, the unemployment figures have not reached the levels of the early 1980s, let alone the 1930s — yet. A total of 598,000 payroll jobs vanished in January — the most in nearly 35 years — and the unemployment rate jumped to 7.6 from 7.2 percent the month before. The most recent high was 7.8 percent in June 1992.

And the jobless rate was 10.8 percent in November and December 1982. Unemployment in the Great Depression ranged for several years from 25 percent to close to 30 percent.

When we do reach the unemployment levels of the 1930's, it won't be because of the Bush Administration and the economy growing tax-cuts they enacted. It will be because of the socialist policies the Dems are trying to force down our throats right now.

Indiana Lawmaker Calls For Planned Parenthood Defunding After Video Exposés

This is yet another story you will not hear about from NBC, ABC, CBS or CNN nor will you read about it on the front page of the Washington Post or New York Times.

We all know that Planned Parenthood of Indiana openly defied Indiana law by counseling a girl whom they believed to be only 13 years old to lie about the age of the man whom they believed was 31 years old and had gotten her pregnant. In fact, it happened at two different Planned Parenthood clinics on the same day and the actions of the PP staff in each case were almost identical.

Now, an Indiana State Representative has called for Planned Parenthood to be defunded for their efforts at circumventing Indiana State law. Rep. Jakie Walorski has written a letter to to Attorney General Steve Carter and Social Services Secretary Mitch Roob asking for an investigation into Planned Parenthood.

From Life Site News:

"Seeing these events occur at two different locations in Indiana and seeing 3 different employees react in virtually the same manner, showing a blatant disregard for all Indiana laws pertaining to protecting minors from sexual abuse, today, I called for the 'defunding' of Planned Parenthood of Indiana," said Walorski in a statement released yesterday. Walorski also asked the Indiana's Social Services to suspend Medicaid funding.

"This story has flown into the national spotlight because of the blatant disregard for Indiana's law regarding the protection of minors," Walorski said.

...

"It is unacceptable for this pattern of behavior to be happening at two different Planned Parenthood clinics, in different parts of the State; therefore, I believe we must look out for the safety of Hoosier minors in this State and proceed with the full investigation of Planned Parenthood of Indiana."

Indiana Right to Life is coupling Walorski’s call with its own appeal to Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi to immediately launch an investigation into Marion County Planned Parenthood offices to determine if child sexual abuse is being reported as required by Indiana law.

Planned Parenthood has no excuse for what they did in these videos. Even if Lila Rose wasn't really thirteen years old, the Planned Parenthood staffers believed she was only thirteen and mostly likely acted as they were trained to act in such a case.

And as I wrote earlier, you won't see this in Old Media.

SECOND Indiana Planned Parenthood Hides Rape Of 13-Year-Old

Finding it once may lead some to suspect that an event recorded at Planned Parenthood in Bloomington, Indiana during which a staffer counseled a "13-year-old" girl to hide the fact that she was a victim of statutory rape was nothing more than a isolated incident meriting only the firing of the staffer involved.

But finding it again at a separate clinic in a separate video but with astonishingly similar solutions to the problem the "13-year-old" girl is facing means that it is more than just an isolated incident and may very well be policy taught to Planned Parenthood staffers, not just in Indiana but nationwide.

If nothing else, it is certainly worthy of investigation to see just how many laws Planned Parenthood is willing to break in order to get an abortion done and how many rapists and child molesters that Planned Parenthood wants to see let go. Remember that Planned Parenthood makes money everytime they get to kill an unborn child.

Watch this video of yet another Planned Parenthood counselor trying to hide a statutory rape and coaching the girl on how to get an abortion without her parents' knowledge. This video was recorded in Indianapolis, Indiana on the same day as the video recorded in Bloomington.

This is your tax dollars at work. Planned Parenthood gets money from the Federal Government and uses it to ensure that rapists and child molesters get away without having to face any consequences for their crimes. What is worse, the rapists and molesters are free to stike again, all courtesy of the money that the government confiscates from your paycheck.

More On The Video Of A Planned Parenthood Nurse Caught Covering Up A Case Of Statutory Rape

To recap, you can access the video on-line here:

Planned Parenthood Conceals Abuse Of 13-Year-Old
Mone Lisa Project
Eyeblast.tv
December 3, 2008

Writing for the Washington Times, Victor Morton has some more information about the video, how it was produced and what the various responses have been:

Planned Parenthood of Indiana has suspended a nurse after the release of an undercover videotape showing her coaching a supposed 13-year-old on how to duck Indiana's laws about parental consent on abortion and the reporting of child sex abuse.

The videotape shows Lila Rose, the president of a university pro-life group and a brunette, posing as a blond 13-year-old girl named "Brianna" and telling the Planned Parenthood nurse at the clinic in Bloomington, Ind., that she is pregnant by a 31-year-old man.

...

The nurse, who is referred to on the video as "Diana" but whose face has been blurred, knew neither that the session was being taped nor that "Brianna" really was Miss Rose, a 20-year-old pro-life activist at the University of California at Los Angeles.

Miss Rose told The Washington Times on Thursday that this footage is only part of an ongoing project with many examples of such conduct. Her group and other student pro-lifers have released tapes of similar counseling.

Indiana is not one of 12 states that restricts or prohibits surreptitious taping.

Lila Rose is certainly one courageous and resourceful young lady. Her efforts at exposing Planned Parenthood for what it really is are among the most admirable journalistic endeavors I have seen in a long, long time.

More:

Planned Parenthood of Indiana quickly suspended "Diana" without pay on Wednesday and vowed an investigation.

"We are deeply concerned about the content of the video. ... The apparent actions of the employee would be in violation of our strict policies and procedures," Betty Cockrum, the state chapter's president, said in a statement.

"A thorough internal investigation of this matter has begun. ... Further disciplinary action will be taken if warranted by the investigation."

I, for one, find it very hard to believe that Planned Parenthood didn't already know this was happening. I mean, this is the same organization that is selling gift certificates so that women can celebrate Christmas by killing their unborn children.

This response is a little more disturbing:

Indiana law requires health care providers and others to report a sexual act between an adult and a person younger than 14 to law enforcement or the Department of Child Protective Services. Not reporting such an act is a misdemeanor punishable under state law by a maximum of 180 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

A city spokesman said Thursday that the Bloomington City Police is not investigating the clinic or the nurse for suspicions of violating the statutory-rape notification law, but is beefing up security around the facility to protect it from any backlash.

"There's no investigation taking place, but they have stepped up patrols around the area," said Danny Lopez, communications director for the city of Bloomington. Patrols have been stepped up in case anybody has a strong reaction to the situation, but he said there have been no problems.

You read that right. The police are not investigating Planned Parenthood for violating the law or for attempting to cover-up a case of statutory rape. They are protecting the abortion clinic.

That makes no sense whatsoever. Given the fact that there have been no problems with security at the clinic, why not investigate this clinic and all Planned Parenthood clinics since they have more than enough probable cause to do so and would be acting in good faith? To do otherwise is an admission that they are willing to look the other way whenever a young girl is raped.

But, I really like what the Mona Lisa Project has been doing and all of the corruption they've uncovered about pro-abortion groups:

The Mona Lisa Project, she added in a statement, "demonstrates how quickly the abortion industry's disrespect for unborn children becomes disregard for all humans. Planned Parenthood offers no solutions for the victim of statutory rape - they give her an abortion and a bag of condoms and sent her straight back into the arms of the abuser."

...

This incident also is not the first time surreptitious taping by Miss Rose and other pro-life college students has embarrassed Planned Parenthood.

• Last month, Students for Life of America released a video taken over the summer of a college student posing as a 15-year-old girl telling staffers at a Charlotte, N.C., clinic about emergency contraception because of unprotected sex with her mother's 30-something live-in boyfriend.

The Planned Parenthood staffers acknowledge this as statutory rape. Students for Life filed a state Public Records Request that showed that Planned Parenthood never reported anything to authorities.

• Last year, Live Action Films students posed as racists to tape phone calls in which several Planned Parenthood chapters accept donations on condition that the money be used to abort blacks.

In one call, Autumn Kersey, vice president of marketing for Planned Parenthood of Idaho, is told that the caller has been hurt by affirmative action and "we just think, the less black kids out there the better." Miss Kersey nervously laughs and says "understandable."

The Idaho chapter later called accepting the money "a serious mistake."

• Also in 2007, Miss Rose videotaped a Planned Parenthood staffer in California telling her, while posing as a 15-year-old pregnant by a 23-year-old boyfriend, to lie about her age so the staffer wouldn't have to report anything under statutory rape laws.

"You could say 16," the worker helpfully suggests. "Just figure out a birth date that works. And I don't know anything." Planned Parenthood responded by threatening a lawsuit over the surreptitious taping.

Not only is Planned Parenthood enabling rapists to prey on young girls, they are apparently racists as well. But that makes sense since one of Margaret Sanger's original intentions for Planned Parenthood was to eliminate the African-American population.

My hat is off to Lila Rose, the Mona Lisa Project, Live Actions Films and the Students for Life of America. They have taken on an issue that Old Media is diliberately ignoring. Further, they are exposing corruption and criminal activity while Old Media has been trying to hide it.

Lila Rose, may God bless you and your friends who have taken up such a noble cause and fought such an honorable fight.

Planned Parenthood Caught On Video Covering Up The Rape Of A 13-Year-Old

If there was any question about how dishonorable, dishonest and downright evil Planned Parenthood is, all doubts have been erased thanks to a video released by LiveActionFilms.org. The video was taken as part of an undercover investigation of Planned Parenthood in Indiana.

In the video, you will see and hear a Planned Parenthood nurse coach a 13-year-old girl on how to cover-up her own abuse and then give her instructions on how the girl's 31-year-old "boyfriend" can take her across state lines without parental knowledge or consent to have an abortion done in Illinois.

Old Media has shown no interest in covering stories like this despite the grave concerns such stories would cause any parent.

You may access the video on-line here:

Planned Parenthood Conceals Abuse Of 13-Year-Old
Eyeblast.tv
December 3, 2008

This leads to many questions that I posed in an earlier post. What if that girl had been taken to Illinois by her "boyfriend" without the parent's knowledge and something had gone wrong with the procedure? Who gets held responsible? Who would the parent's hold accountable for whatever happens to their daughter?

Think it can't happen? Check out this video too:

22-Year-Old Dies In Abortion Clinic
Eyeblast.tv
December 6, 2007

Planned Parenthood clearly doesn't give a damn about the parents or the fact that they are letting a rapist escape justice. The only thing they care about is killing another unborn child and if it can be done without the knowledge or consent of the girl's parents, then that's just bonus for them.

These are the reasons why we need to have parental notification laws and why we need to have abortionists give full disclosure to facilitate informed consent of the procedure. As things stand right now, Planned Parenthood can give a rapist a "get out of jail free" card which means more rapes in the future. And abortionists can get away scott free whenever they kill a young woman which means more deaths in the future.

ACORN Submits Faked Voter Registration Forms And Ohio Must Verify The IDs Of Newly Registered Voters

Two very big stories coming out here. The ACORN story should go first since Barack Obama has denied any connection with ACORN despite being intimately involved with them. How involved? He taught classes for them, he was a corporate counsel for them and he represented ACORN in a lawsuit against the State of Illinois. Why he would make such a denial is beyond any rationality.

But ACORN is in big trouble right now. According to CNN:

More than 2,000 voter registration forms filed in northern Indiana's Lake County by a liberal activist group this week have turned out to be bogus, election officials said Thursday.

The group -- the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN -- already faces allegations of filing fraudulent voter registrations in Nevada and faces investigations in other states.

And in Lake County, home to the long-depressed steel town of Gary, the bipartisan Elections Board has stopped processing a stack of about 5,000 applications delivered just before the October 6 registration deadline after the first 2,100 turned out to be phony.

"All the signatures looked exactly the same," Ruthann Hoagland, a Republican on the board. "Everything on the card filled out looks exactly the same."

The forms included registrations submitted in the names of the dead -- and in one case, the name of a fast-food restaurant, Jimmy Johns. Sally LaSota, a Democrat on the board, called the forms fraudulent and said whoever filed them broke the law.

Clearly, this is an issue that should warrant the attention of all Americans no matter what part of the politcal spectrum you reside in. Do you really want your vote negated by a fraudulent vote cast by ACORN?

More:

Over the past four years, a dozen states have investigated complaints of fraudulent registrations filed by ACORN. On Tuesday, Nevada authorities raided an ACORN office in Las Vegas, Nevada, where workers are accused of registering members of the Dallas Cowboys football team. And the group has become the target of Republican attacks on voter fraud, a perennial GOP issue.

A subsidiary of the group was paid $800,000 by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's campaign to register voters for the 2008 primaries, and ACORN's political wing endorsed Obama back in February.

Still think there's no connection?

And over in Ohio, a judge has ruled that the State must verify the IDs of newly registered voters. According to the Associated Press:

A federal judge on Thursday, Oct. 9, ordered Ohio's top elections official to verify the identity of newly registered voters by matching them with other government documents.

A U.S. District Court judge in Columbus ruled that Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner must perform verification required by the Help American Vote Act.

That includes matching new registrants' information with information in databases maintained by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles or the Social Security Administration.

Jennifer Brunner didn't even think that not checking would be a problem.

Read on:

"Defendant argues that a temporary restraining order would undermine confidence in Ohio's election process since it suggests the court has to correct a problem where none exists," Smith wrote.

"The court, however, has identified a serious problem, and the only identifiable harm is the burden that will be placed upon the state to perform the two to three days of programming."

Republicans hailed the ruling.

"For some reason, Jennifer Brunner does not want these new registrations checked," Ohio Republican Party Deputy Chairman Kevin DeWine said.

There was a serious potential for voter fraud and Democrat Jennifer Brunner was okay with it?

Supreme Court Rules In Favor Of Voter IDs

Now, really. Everyone must have known exactly how this one was going to turn out, even before the arguments were written in draft. Not requiring a photo ID before voting is tantamount to inviting massive voter fraud. Without such a check on the process, who is to say that one voter couldn't go and vote at five or more polling places?

Clearly, the only people that wanted to strike down voter ID laws were those who had designs on using such a legal loophole to allow a single voter to vote multiple times. "Vote early and vote often" was becoming the new leftist battle-cry.

But the U.S. Supreme Court has effectively put an end to the multiple-vote-casting-single-voter scheme. From MSNBC:

The Supreme Court ruled Monday that states can require voters to produce photo identification without violating their constitutional rights, validating Republican-inspired voter ID laws.

In a splintered 6-3 ruling, the court upheld Indiana's strict photo ID requirement, which Democrats and civil rights groups said would deter poor, older and minority voters from casting ballots. Its backers said it was needed to prevent fraud.

It was the most important voting rights case since the Bush v. Gore dispute that sealed the 2000 election for George W. Bush. But the voter ID ruling lacked the conservative-liberal split that marked the 2000 case.

The law "is amply justified by the valid interest in protecting 'the integrity and reliability of the electoral process,'" Justice John Paul Stevens said in an opinion that was joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Anthony Kennedy. Stevens was a dissenter in Bush v. Gore in 2000.

Justices Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas also agreed with the outcome, but wrote separately.

The three votes against? Well, as Gomer Pyle would say, "Suprise! Suprise! Suprise!" Those three votes came from the three most liberals justices on the Court. Care to guess what they were thinking when they tried unsuccessfully to strike down a law aimed at curbing voter fraud?

More:

Stevens said the partisan divide in Indiana, as well as elsewhere, was noteworthy. But he said that preventing fraud and inspiring voter confidence were legitimate goals of the law, regardless of who backed or opposed it.

Indiana provides IDs free of charge to the poor and allows voters who lack photo ID to cast a provisional ballot and then show up within 10 days at their county courthouse to produce identification or otherwise attest to their identity.

You get all that? "Indiana provides IDs free of charge." Clearly, there is no conspiracy to keep the poor from voting. But without a voter ID law, it is clear what kind of conspiracy could crop up.

More Leftist Bias From CBS, Dems Support Fraud Voter And Congressional Pay Raise

The Dan Rather fake National Guard documents story is still the leading example of how Old Media uses its broadcast power to influence elections on behalf of the left. But CBS hasn't learned the lesson about being fair and objective. Newsbusters has a story about how CBS newsreaders fell all over themselves to criticize the income tax proposals from the GOP candidate pool, but gave no criticism at all for proposals coming from the Dems.

From the article:

Thursday's CBS Evening News took a look at the economic and tax plans for some of the candidates from both parties, but, while Democratic plans were reported without any references to criticism, correpondent Chip Reid took jabs at Republican tax cut plans, labeling that of Mitt Romney, who "made a fortune in business," as being "right out of the playbooks of Ronald Reagan and George Bush." Reid further suggested that Mike Huckabee's plan for a national sales tax contradicts his "populist" message of "protecting the middle class," as the CBS correspondent neglected to mention that Huckabee's plan would also abolish the federal income tax and provide rebates to those with lower incomes.

...

Reid went on to report economic plans of Democrats Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards without mentioning any potential down sides to raising the minimum wage or to raising taxes on the wealthy. Reid: "The Democrats' economic game plan is dramatically different. ... They say what's needed is help for the middle class, not for corporations and the wealthy."

Reid never mentions the fact that raising taxes depresses an economy and causes a loss of jobs due to inadequate capital for job creation. He also never mentions the fact that ultimately, all tax hikes are paid for by the middle class. This is typical of a leftist-socialist who doesn't understand the dynamics of a robust economy.

CBS is apparently stumping for the Dems by witholding crucial information about the effects increased taxes will have on our economy while simultaneously handing out standard leftist innuendo about tax cuts.

Neal Boortz has an interesting tidbit about the Dem's poster child for striking down Indiana's Voter ID law. It seems that 72-year-old Faye Buis-Ewing is in violation of the law when it comes to voting.

According to Nealz Newz:

She has become a "poster child" for the disenfranchised voter that will be protected under a voting system with no ID requirements. But now we've discovered one minor problem. Not only is Faye registered to vote, but she is registered in two different states. She claims two states as her primary residence. She received a homestead exemption on her property taxes ... in two different states. In other words, the leftist poster girl for their fight against voter identification laws is a criminal. What a shame.

Faye could not only vote, but she could technically vote more than the average citizen registered in only one state! She explains that she and her husband "winter in Florida and summer in Indiana." Isn't that sweet? She says that she has never voted in Florida, but she has a Florida driver's license. And when she went to vote in Indiana in November 2006 with her Florida driver's license, they, logically, did not accept it. Doesn't seem like rocket science to me! But hey, this is the average voter we are speaking of.

Now the League of Women Voters (I'm sure they are my biggest fans) say this experience is exactly the reason the law should be changed. No, ladies .... That is exactly the reason why the law should be upheld! I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that Faye is voting for Hillary Clinton. Maybe twice.

Now, I'll bet that if it were the Republicans trying to do away with the Indiana law, this story would be all over Old Media.

Some people around the country are starting to worry about their employment propects due to a deteriorating economy. But members of Congress are above all of that. Despite a record low approval rating, they are getting a $4000 pay raise.

From the Associated Press:

Lawmakers in 2008 will receive salaries of $169,300, a boost of $4,100 over the pay they have lived with since January 2006.

That 2.5 percent increase is mirrored by similar raises for associate justices of the Supreme Court, who will see their pay go from $203,000 to $208,100, and Chief Justice John Roberts, whose pay will rise to $217,400 from $212,100.

The salary figures were published in Tuesday's edition of the Federal Register.

Last year was the first since 1999, when the pay was $136,700, that members of Congress did not receive a cost-of-living allowance raise along with other federal employees. Democrats, newly elected to the majority, had vowed to block an increase in their paychecks until Congress raised the minimum wage.

With the minimum wage increase accomplished last year, House Democratic leaders joined with their Republican counterparts to oppose a procedural vote to bring the COLA issue to the floor, leaving the way clear for their automatic raise.

Interesting that they do more to put people out of work than any other group in the nation, and they get a pay raise for it.
