What a difference one year makes! Just this time last year, the Dems won Virginia by 6 points. They then proceeded to proclaim the Commonwealth of Virginia a "Blue" state and went even further to proclaim that Conservatism was dead and the GOP would soon be extinct. But yesterday, they lost Virginia by 18 points. That is a 24 point swing. Almost one-quarter of the electorate.
In New Jersey, the Democrats won by 14 points in 2008 but lost by 5 points in 2009. That's a 19 point swing. Almost one-fifth of the electorate.
Why were the Dems so wrong?
Because they misread the results of the 2008 election. That's why.
The 2008 election was not about people demanding more government in their lives, nor about people demanding that government take over the auto and banking industries. And there was no call for government to bail out failing corporations. But the Dems assumed that there were such calls and now the people of Virginia and New Jersey are the first to voice their disapproval of the leftist agenda the Democrats in Washington are trying to force down America's collective throat.
Although the Dems are saying that these two elections were not a referendum on Barack Obama (and their cronies at CNN et. al. are dutifully repeating that line) the opposite is true. Not one exit poll showed that voters were trying "send a message," but the exit polls did show that voters were very much concerned about a deteriorating economy and the intrusiveness of big government into their lives. And who is pushing policies contributing to these two concerns? Barack Obama. Thus, no matter how loudly the Dems and their leftist media allies proclaim the opposite, we all know what these elections really represent.
I'm certain that despite what Barack Obama and the DNC are saying in public, behind closed doors they are very scared. They should be. They crossed over too many lines in too short a time and now, they are beginning to pay the price for it.
For the GOP, this should also be a major lesson. Just as Bobby Jindal proved in Louisiana, Bob McDonnell and Chris Christie have proven in their respective states that traditional Conservative values are winners and the GOP should be embracing candidates with such values rather than trying to prop up "centrists" who are really just liberal Dems with the letter "R" after their name.
For Conservatives in general, we have won a major victory, just like the Battle of Midway in 1942. But now is not the time to rest. Now is the time to redouble our efforts and keep moving forward. We can go on the offensive now and take back America from the leftist Marxist socialists who have worked for the past year to destroy that which made America great.
We have the momentum. Let's keep it going. As Franklin Delano Roosevelt said back in the early days of World War II, we are "on our way."

Keep Gaddafi Out Of NYC
You've got to love Ted Nugent and the way he calls things like he sees them.
From Human Events Online:
Gaddafi is coming to the United Nations to give a speech that will make about as much sense as out of tune goat music. Dogs in Central Park will bay in confusion and chase their tails. Sena. Chuck Schumer, of course, will probably agree with the speech and, like Gaddafi, blame America for all the world's problems. And, in protest, our secretary of state will buy another pantsuit. Gaddafi recently threw a "get out of jail" party for mass murderer Abdel Baset al-Megrahi after the United Kingdom cut an oil deal with Libya that included releasing the Lockerbie killer after serving just eight years for mass murdering hundreds of innocent people. 189 Americans were slaughtered over Lockerbie by this butcher. I'm praying he dies a slow, agonizing death and that the United Kingdom's government is infested with the fleas, gnats and blowflies that inhabit Gaddafi's oil rich tent.
But check this out:
Terrorist bankrollers such as Gaddafi don't respect Barry O and America. This was on full display when terrorist supporter Gaddafi literally wanted to pitch his tent in the community of Englewood, N.J. when he travels to New York to give his loony speech. Englewood lost 39 citizens in the Lockerbie mass killing, which Gaddafi financed. Gaddafi knew this but obviously wanted to pour salt into the wounds of the American families who lost loved ones over Lockerbie and was confident the American paper tiger would not interfere. Rep. John Alder and the Englewood mayor told Gaddafi in no uncertain terms to go pitch his tent somewhere else. There were no strong words from Barry O and crew to Gaddafi and his circus tent terrorist sideshow clowns.
You know, Obama once said that he had no patience or tolerance for terrorists. But, it looks like he has a great deal of patience and tolerance for the terrorist Gaddafi.

Missouri House Approves State Fair Tax Constitutional Amendment
I've been a proponent of the FairTax for a few years now. My faith in the FairTax has never waivered nor will it anytime soon. Although many on the left (and a few on the right) have worked to discredit the idea of the FairTax over the past few years, the movement is gaining momentum.
The lastest victory come from Missouri where the House of Representatives voted to approve of a state Constitutional Amendment that would give Missouri a state-level FairTax.
From Fair Tax Nation:
In a development of potential national significance, the Missouri House of Representatives, on April 16, 2009, sent a proposed amendment to the Missouri Constitution, HJR36, to the state Senate that, if enacted, would bring a state-level Fair Tax to Missouri. The sponsor of the bill, Edgar G. Emery (R-Missouri District 126, Lamar), advised me yesterday he thinks the bill has a reasonable chance of passage in the state Senate. There is no definite time table yet there - the resolution has had its first reading. However the passage of the proposal in the state House has enhanced the profile of the bill in the state Senate. If the state Senate approves, the measure will be submitted to the voters of the State in November 2010 without need for consideration by the Governor. If approved by the voters, the measure would take effect on January 1, 2012, and Missouri would become the first laboratory in the United States - and perhaps the world - to test the macro-economic benefits of the Fair Tax. New Jersey FairTax State Co-Director, engineer and business owner, Norm Simms, has stated frequently that his decisions on where to site production are sensitive to tax climate. If the state FairTax passes, businesses would be expected to seriously consider locating - or relocating - to Missouri. Credit for the success of this bill goes to the Missouri FairTax volunteeers.

There have been many efforts at tax reform over the past twenty years, but all of them failed to produce the desired results. Here are three end-goals that any tax reform plan must have in order to be viable:
1) The plan must remove from the IRS any power to intrude on the private lives of American citizens.
2) The plan must remove from the K Street lobbyists any power to influence Congressional votes.
3) The plan must not allow hidden taxes to be passed along to the consumer at any time.
There is only one tax reform plan that addresses all three of these end-goals:

Excellent On-Line Essay: Blue-State Bailout Blues
By Jay Henderson over at American Sentinel.
So, which states are the first in line to ask for federal bailouts? Those states with the largest entitlement spending programs. They are New York, California, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Illinois.
From Jay's on-line essay:
There is a dangerous tipping point in politics. When 50.1% of the voters pay no taxes but expect and rely on "entitlements" from the government, then they will tax to infinity the remaining 49.9% of the polity. The Blue States now begging for bailouts give us a good look at what happens as that tipping point approaches. The rush for Federal bailout bucks began in November, led by California and New York. In early January, Democratic governors from Wisconsin, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Ohio pitched their case to the Obama transition team, proposing a $1 trillion bailout of state governments. The needy Blue States of Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Illinois and California provided 134 Obama electoral votes last November - - more than half of his total. Other states on the bailout list include Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin, 47 more Democratic electoral votes. The political pressure on the Obama administration is obvious.
Your tax dollars, money you need to take care of your own family, are going to go for paying off political allies and propping up socialist entitlement programs that are destined to bankrupt those who fund them, no matter how many ways they are taxed.
But of interesting note here is that those states are also among the wealthiest in terms of per capita income:
Ironically, the governors travelling to Washington with begging bowls represent some of the wealthiest states in the U.S. Measured in terms of per capita income, they include New Jersey (ranked number 2), Massachusetts (ranked number 3), New York (number 4), California (number 7), and Illinois (number 16), as of 2007 statistics. Per Capita Personal Income By State. How can this be? Well, these same states are at the forefront of "entitlement" spending and social engineering projects.
Finally:
While Red State America, sustained by blue collar, working class, and small business taxpayers, is called upon to bail out the wealthy but profligate Blues - - the Congressional Democrats and the Obama Administration are planning to expand or adopt the same kinds of "entitlement" spending programs and social engineering projects that are breaking the backs of Blue State taxpayers. Because they work so well, right? This is a chilling insight into our national future - - if we don't derail the Obamacrat train.
So, who is going to bailout the small businesses, blue-collar workers and the working class when the U.S. government bankrupts itself by wasting trillions of dollars on the same foolish programs that bankrupted the states that are looking for bailout dollars?

Democrats At The Trough: Your Taxpayer Dollars Feeding The Pigs
If only all journalists in the United States had as much integrity and courage as Cal Thomas does to write what is overwhelmingly obvious and write it with so much clarity. Take, for example, government spending, why it has become so bloated and what effect such spending has on you and I, the American taxpayers.
Cal's latest column is about overspending by governments: Federal, State and Local. And he explains clearly why such overspending occurred and what the (mostly Democrat) elected leaders in these governments want to do by way of a "solution."
From his column:
Democratic governors from overspending states like New York, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Ohio are among those seeking financial deliverance. The governors want Washington to pony up $1 trillion for their absolutely-essential-non-negotiable-if-we-don't-get-the-money-people-will-starve programs.
But why should we, the taxpayers, fund this bailout? Who among us would not be held responsible, as individual citizens, for spending more than we take in?
Read on:
New York Governor David Paterson claims that, because tax revenues have plunged, 43 states now have budget deficits totaling around $100 billion. No, those states have deficits because when times were good and the money was rolling in they thought they could get away with endless new programs, while putting little or no money aside for the inevitable rainy day. Neither did they consider which programs were necessary and which ones were just politically beneficial. Or, maybe they did and they opted for politically beneficial, thus creating their problem, and ours. Notice the sleight of hand about to be perpetrated on hardworking taxpayers. In the end, it is we who pay for the plans of politicians who are unable, or unwilling, to control themselves when it comes to other peoples' money. When Republicans cut taxes, Democrats scream about growing deficits. But Democrats never worry about the deficit when they spend more than what the government takes in. So it really isn't about the deficit at all. It is about how much of our hard-earned money the Democrats, mostly, will allow us to keep.
Bingo! Look at that simplicity of comparison. Conservatives cut taxes and the libs complain about not enough money to spend. Libs spend more money than they have and then delude themselves into believing that our grand-children will be happy to pay for the libs non-sense appropriations. What would happen to you if you ran your household budget like this? You would, at the very least, recieve a very low credit rating and not be able to get new loans, or at worst, go to jail.
And what is even better is that the comparison between the libs and Conservatives is valid and absolutely true.
More:
The incoming Obama administration wants to spend gobs of money on "infrastructure," creating government jobs that will end when the work is completed. Isn't infrastructure primarily supposed to be the work of state and local governments? Isn't the gasoline tax supposed to go to build and repair local roads and bridges? The federal responsibility should begin and end with the interstate highway system. The governors' request for more money from Washington is also about unfunded mandates, the rising cost of Medicare and Medicaid and a lot of other "entitlement" programs that could have been made solvent during the Bush administration, which tried, but was unable to succeed due to opposition from Democrats who preferred to have an issue rather than a solution.
And there is the reason the Dems don't want any real solutions to the overspending problem. They need wasteful programs in order to buy votes and they need a way to keep people dependent on the government for their livelihood.
This is a most excellent column and everyone should read it:
