Obama Humiliates America ... Twice

Back when I was in grade school, I used to really hate teachers who would purposely humiliate the entire class for some reason. You know, those teachers who would become frustrated for their own shortcomings and turn to the class and say something like: "Not a single one of you is smart enough to learn this lesson!"

I also hated it when I was in the Marine Corps and some senior Staff NCO would yell out some idiotic insult to an entire platoon or company, an insult which served no purpose except to devalue the leadership skills of that Staff NCO.

Thus, I was doubly disappointed when Barack Obama insulted and humiliated America twice (so far) on his European trip.

First, he showed inferiority and submissiveness to an anti-Semitic ruler whose government helps to fund terrorism in the world. He did something that no American President should ever do: bowed to the king of Saudi Arabia:

A little side story here. When the photos of this event emerged, the libs became unhinged about it and began to float stories that the photos had been altered in some way. Well, the above video proves that it really did happen and Obama humiliated America in the process.

But, that wasn't enough for the president who can't talk straight without a teleprompter in front of him. He had to go even further and insult all of America while he was visiting France. He made comments that were supposed to placate the Europeans and make them feel justified in their irrational hatred of America.

Here is Obama's quote from a column by Mark Whittington of the Associated Content:

"In America, there is a failure to appreciate Europe's leading role in the world. Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive"

How can anyone possibly respect a leader who turns around and insults his own countrymen like that? I can't. I can't respect Obama anymore than I could respect an incompetent school teacher or a Staff NCO who knows nothing about good leadership.

The problems in this world did not start with America. We ended up getting involved with them because our national safety depended on it.

Whittington explains:

President Obama seems so very anxious to "mend fences" with the Europeans that he seems to be in need of a history lesson, as indeed does his student audience. One should remind Mr. Obama and the Europeans how American has "shown arrogance" by saving Europe from itself innumerable times in the 20th Century. World War I, World War II, the Cold War, and the wars in the Balkans were largely resolved by American blood, treasure, and leadership. One can be "dismissive, even derisive" toward Europeans because they pretty much caused those conflicts and then dithered, for the most part, until those arrogant Americans had to step in to clean up their mess. Much of the problems of the Third World, including the rise of Islamo Fascism, can be laid at the doorstep of European colonial practices, including the chaotic and often bloody process of decolonialization that took place starting with the end of World War II. Africa is a butcher shop and the Middle East is a cockpit of terror and war, not because of American "arrogance", but European stupidity when it ran those two places.

Mr. Obama should go back to school and learn the lessons of history. We are not an arrogant people. We just don't like it when outsiders try to tell us that we cannot defend ourselves or do what is necessary to keep our people safe.

The arrogance is on the part of those who try to tell us that we should stop doing so.

JB Williams: America Largely Silent While Obama Destroys The Nation

I can't disagree with the title here. I see it everywhere. I see it on television. I see it in the retail stores. I see it on the Internet. There are a great many people who seem to simply not care about what is happening to their own nation.

I'm certain there were similar attitudes in Germany when the Nazis took over. (In fact, having read Rise And Fall Of The Third Reich by William L. Shirer, I am absolutely sure that such attitudes existed.) I am also certain that similar attitudes were held by the average Russian after Stalin siezed power.

That is why it scares me to see the same attitudes here in the United States while the Obama administration installs more socialist policies for which the response from the media and a majority of Americans has been nothing but silence, which Obama and his socialist cronies will take as tacet approval.

Writing for Capitol Hill Coffee House, J.B. Williams has the following observations:

Obamanation has taken the nation from a trillion in debt to over $4 trillion in debt in the first sixty days, with even more federal spending promised, which could put the nation $10 trillion in debt before the 2010 mid-term election cycle. Amnesty for illegals and ACORN led redistricting will make 2010 and beyond a moot point.

Now, Obama likes to use the excuse that he "inherited" this debt. Only up to a point. The quadrupling of the debt is entirely his fault as well as the fault of the Democrats who voted to go along with it.

Now here is where we have to wonder at the silence. If a trillion dollar debt is bad, then why would the Democrats consider a 4 trillion dollar debt to be better? Shouldn't it be four times worse? Where is the outrage at how Obama and the Democrats are threatening to squander our children's and grandchildren's future?

Old concepts have been redefined. Capitalism is now referred to as Fascism. Personal ambition is now called greed. Those who seek access to other people’s rightful earnings are called charitable, and those who demand a right to only that, which they earn, are called greedy. It isn’t just the words that have new definitions. The concepts have new meaning as a result. Words like socialism and communism no longer have a negative connotation attached to them. Most Americans have no idea what they are anymore, or why they don’t want to find out the hard way. The concept of liberal interpretations limits the meaning of words only to one’s individual imagination. The Constitution means only what someone imagines it to mean. If the shoe doesn’t quite fit, a new definition will solve the problem.

We've seen Timothy Geithner ask, in the name of Obama, for the power to go in and take over any private sector entity he deems necessary. (I can see how that power can be abused simply to destroy political enemies.) We've seen how Obama wants to control the auto industry by forcing out the CEO of General Motors despite the fact that the only thing Obama or any other government official would only be able to do is drive GM further into the ground.

This is socialism, folks! And it has been a disaster everywhere it has been tried. We do not need to relearn this lesson the hard way. We simply need to crack open some history books and read. Read how the Nazis (National Socialists) drove Germany into the ground. Read how the communists drove Russia and Eastern Europe into the ground. Read how socialism is driving Europe into the ground right now.

What will it take?

Nobody knows for how long or at what expense, but so far, the people remain silent and Washington continues to profitably interpret that silence as broad-based consent. At this late date, I have no idea what will wake up the average American or how they might react once finally awake and ready to engage in self-governance. However, I am sure about two things… * When they finally do awake, they are going to be really angry... * And, the anti-American left won’t let up until then... The clock isn’t just ticking. Time has already run out as of the 2008 election. Washington DC is currently dismantling America, individual right by individual right, in an unprecedented massive multi-faceted assault on all things American.

I see the dangers and know the lessons of history.

Ruin Your Health With The Obama Stimulus Plan: Socialized Medicine Is In The Spending Bill

Not many people talking about this, but we really need to get the word out. The pork spending bill that is now speeding it's way through Congress with the help of three RINO traitors (Specter, Snowe and Collins) contains a socialized medicine provision that we should all be aware of and call our Representatives and Senators about.

In short, this provision will make the federal government the final dicision maker in what treatments your doctor may or may not prescribe. In other words, a bureaucrat will have override authority with the power to say "no" to any treatment even if your doctor says "yes."

Writing for Bloomberg, Betsy McCaughey has this:

The bill’s health rules will affect “every individual in the United States” (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system. Having electronic medical records at your fingertips, easily transferred to a hospital, is beneficial. It will help avoid duplicate tests and errors. But the bill goes further. One new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions (442, 446). These provisions in the stimulus bill are virtually identical to what Daschle prescribed in his 2008 book, Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis. According to Daschle, doctors have to give up autonomy and “learn to operate less like solo practitioners.”

And what happens if doctors and hospitals don't want the government to override their decisions?

Read on:

Hospitals and doctors that are not “meaningful users” of the new system will face penalties. “Meaningful user” isn’t defined in the bill. That will be left to the HHS secretary, who will be empowered to impose “more stringent measures of meaningful use over time” (511, 518, 540-541) What penalties will deter your doctor from going beyond the electronically delivered protocols when your condition is atypical or you need an experimental treatment? The vagueness is intentional. In his book, Daschle proposed an appointed body with vast powers to make the “tough” decisions elected politicians won’t make. The stimulus bill does that, and calls it the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research (190-192). The goal, Daschle’s book explained, is to slow the development and use of new medications and technologies because they are driving up costs. He praises Europeans for being more willing to accept “hopeless diagnoses” and “forgo experimental treatments,” and he chastises Americans for expecting too much from the health-care system.

In other words, if the government decides that you aren't worth saving, medical treatment will be withheld from you. If the government decides that your children are not worth saving, the government will withhold treatment from them.

Can you imagine the impact this provision is going to have on organizations like St. Jude's Children's Research Centers? How many children will the feds give up on due to what the bureaucrats rule a "hopeless diagnosis?"

For those of you who voted for "change," congratulations! You got it.

But, who will be the hardest hit? In the beginning, it will be the elderly.

Daschle says health-care reform “will not be pain free.” Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them. That means the elderly will bear the brunt. Medicare now pays for treatments deemed safe and effective. The stimulus bill would change that and apply a cost- effectiveness standard set by the Federal Council (464). The Federal Council is modeled after a U.K. board discussed in Daschle’s book. This board approves or rejects treatments using a formula that divides the cost of the treatment by the number of years the patient is likely to benefit. Treatments for younger patients are more often approved than treatments for diseases that affect the elderly, such as osteoporosis. In 2006, a U.K. health board decreed that elderly patients with macular degeneration had to wait until they went blind in one eye before they could get a costly new drug to save the other eye. It took almost three years of public protests before the board reversed its decision.

But the socialists who support this abomination claim that individuals will "benefit in younger years and sacrifice later." Until the inefficiancy that is inherent in federal bureaucracies catches up and the available care needs to be rationed further. Then, the "hopeless diagnosis" will be a death sentence for patients of all ages.

Why was it hidden in this pork-laden spending bill?

Here's why:

Hiding health legislation in a stimulus bill is intentional. Daschle supported the Clinton administration’s health-care overhaul in 1994, and attributed its failure to debate and delay. A year ago, Daschle wrote that the next president should act quickly before critics mount an opposition. “If that means attaching a health-care plan to the federal budget, so be it,” he said. “The issue is too important to be stalled by Senate protocol.”

For an administration that claims to be the most transparent of all time, they sure do seem to be hiding alot.

We need to kill this bill before we get saddled with the nationalized health-care disasters that are Canada and Europe.

Now, some of you may think that you are going to be able to pay for private care to cover what the government denies. But don't count on it. In Europe and Canada, it is illegal to get private care because that makes the system "unfair towards the rich." How long before the socialist Barack Obama and his socialist allies in Congress get that rule passed?

Contact your Representatives and Senators now and ask them to kill this bill before it is too late.

Book Review: Mark Steyn's "America Alone"

I like to read whenever I get the chance. But lately, my only chances have been at the gym where I can sit at one of the bicycle machines and do a 30 to 40 minute aerobic workout while reading some good current event analysis.

The latest book I've been able to finish is America Alone by Mark Steyn. My advice? Go get this book and read it thoroughly. When you are finished with it, send it to someone you know in Europe because they need to read it more than we do.

The premise of the book is that within 60 to 70 years, the United States will be alone in facing Islamic terrorism since Europe will have since become an Islamic Caliphate. Sound far-fetched? Like something out of an apocolyptic movie produced in Hollywood? Read the book and you will see exactly how serious it is.

First, Mark deals with birthrates and what they mean. Right now, Occidental Europeans are not replacing themselves. Their birthrates are far below the rate of 2.1 live births per death needed to effectively replace the population and maintain current levels. As Mark puts it, European couples wait until their late 30's and decide to have "one designer baby." That's one baby coming from two adults. What happens after one generation? Population drops fast.

But not all European groups are below this 2.1 rate. In fact, Muslims are far above it, somewhere between 3.0 and 5.0. So, what happenes to their population after one generation? It grows and it grows fast. Europe is going to lose to numbers. The Muslims will have the numbers while the Occidentals will not.

Other factors come into play too. Europe has made no effort to assimilate their Arab/Muslim immigrants. In fact, Europe has bent over backwards to accomodate them, even to the point of letting them on the welfare rolls and giving them unconditional financial support. The Arab/Muslim response? Take a look at the riots that occurred in France. That is how the Arab/Muslims said "Thank you."

Even when Muslims flatly state outright what their intentions are, the Europeans show no backbone in confronting the obvious threat.

Consider this from Page 197 of the book:

After the carnage in Spain, Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed told Lisbon's Publica magazine that a group of London Islamists were "ready to launch a big operation" on British soil. "We don't make a distinction between civilians and non-civilians, innocents and non-innocents," he said, clarifying the ground rules. "Only between Muslims and unbelievers. And the life of an unbeliever has no value."

How can anyone interpret that any other way than for it to mean exactly what he said? Fools might attempt to do so, but the truly wise among us will see the truth.

Finally, here is one more excerpt from Page 200 that describes precisely what situation Europe is walking straight into with their collective eyes wide open:

Bomb us, and we agonize over "root causes." Decapitate us, and our politicians rush to the nearest mosque to declare that "Islam is a religion of peace." Issue blood-curdling calls at Friday prayers to kill all the Jews and infidels, and we fret that it may cause a backlash against Muslims. Behead sodmites and mutilate female genitalia, and gay groups and feminist groups can't wait to march alongside you denouncing Bush and Blair. Murder a schoolful of children, and our scholars explain that the "vast majority" of Muslims "jihad" is a harmless concept meaning "healthy-lifestyle lo-fat granola bar."

See how many fools there are who would quickly side with the likes of Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed?

Europe is sliding down a greased pole right now. We can't stop it. Only the Europeans can, but they don't have the courage or committment to do so.

That is why, by the time my grandchildren graduate college, America will be alone in facing the Islamic threat.
